These words immediately jumped to mind, when I saw Miss Kate’s word prompt. Be Thou My Vision is a lovely old hymn with the words being attributed to Dallan Forgaill. Eleanor Hull translated them.
Vision. What does it mean? How does one import the significance of vision? So my thoughts turn to how God can be my vision.
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be my vision.
Bring to me clarity of heart
helping me to see
the positives in the world around me
not just the negatives.
Be my vision.
Just as glasses help me to see
far objects clearly,
help me to look forward to
the future, knowing what’s to come.
Be my vision.
Opening my mind to new
thoughts and new ways of
doing things so I’m not
stuck in a loop of just doing.
Be my vision.
Let me see the world
around me anew.
Marveling at the beauty
and intricacies of nature.
Be my vision.
Looking for ways to
meet the needs of people
in my life.
Pushing past my “stuff”
to help others with their “stuff”.
Be my vision.
Fill my mind and thoughts
with who you are so
that which is not of
you loses it’s appeal.

Your vision poem resounded as a prayer and I found myself saying, “Amen and amen.”

Be Thou my Vision is my dad’s favorite hymn. I cry every time I hear it. He’s still alive but lives in PA and I’m in CO. Your poem is lovely and I’ll share it with him. I need the reminder to focus on the positives – even when I’m looking for a job…
