Can we simplify the Important?

Today’s word for Five minute Friday is Simplify.

I have to admit, I think of the word simplify and to simplify is to make things easy, to uncomplicated matters.  Then I wonder, what is there is life that can use a good case of simplification?

I think of how complicated we make things sometimes, I have a son who likes to over explain things, and sometimes it all just runs together his explanations.  All those words, sometimes, just sometimes I wish he would choose the simple answer… especially when the fogginess of the flu hits. 🙂

BUT this post isn’t about my long-winded boy… it’s about my wondering about what needs simplification.

How about…….

God’s grace?   It’s easy to complicate this.  But in the end… God’s grace is always there, always extended for his people.  I think it’s easy to forget the simplicity of God’s ever present grace.  Poured out on our lives daily.

God’s gift?   Again, easy to complicate, saying we need to truly understand what it is, but you know.. a gift is a gift (until it isn’t) but since God says it’s a gift and he doesn’t lie.. a gift is simply a gift.  You either accept it, or you don’t.  The choice is there, ever so simplified… receive it or don’t.

God’s call? To be transformed by the renewing of our minds. You see I KNOW I have made this complicated, wondering on what it means to be renewed, to be transformed, when I actually KNOW what that means. It’s just that willingness to the person that God truly wants me to be.  YES, it’s complicated but in the base of it… simplification.  A willingness to be transformed by having my mind renewed by the Lord himself.

Have you done it?  Complicated what shouldn’t be?

Simplify it.  See the brass tacks of it.   God’s grace, God’s gift, God’s call.    Doesn’t need to be complicated.

What a great reminder, Annette! Sometimes we overthink things and end up messing them up rather than just accepting the simplicity of God’s plan.

Great thoughts, Annette! It’s so easy to complicate simple things. I love how you brought out these three things. 🙂 Grace, Gift, Call. Yes, when they are of God, they are simple. Because He knows we are simple creatures. May we not strive to complicate them. 🙂

    Have a great weekend, friend.

His grace, His gift, and His call. The things to stay focused on for ht life eternal, also the things that make our temporal life simpler – if we let them. Love you dear one! Thanks for the reminder to not overthink God’s blessings!

Oh Carol, thanks. You made me smile. Making wise choices, not always something we do easily is it?
