I Find Myself Drawn

I find myself drawn
to find myself a niche
a place
of belonging
A place with just my people and
my way
of doing and being
a place of safety and no fears
no worries
no sense of needing to do or be more.

A muttering starts
a tottering heart
A conviction that something more
something different is calling my name
a wondering
a looking
a wanting more to be
I stop to question
is a known niche really truly a place of safety?

Maybe just maybe safety lies in another direction
Like a bird swooping in to her nest to find a stranger waiting
and off she goes in another direction realizing
that safety lies
In another hidden grove
another spot yet undiscovered

Like a pet rabbit that gets scared by a changing environment
and in fear lives protectively.. biting and crawling
Living only in fear
and then taken out of that home
into the care of another
Relaxes and realizes that all is well
The fear of the known is gone
The intrigue of the new becomes
a settling to her spirit.

and so as this one watches and sees
feels a new awakening
is sitting just around the corner
waiting to be discovered
wanting to be included
in new adventures
in new niches
in new corners
in a safety yet to be discovered.
