Miss kate has posted the Five Minute Friday word. And I have to admit, that my bed is calling for me hard, jelly beans are NOT keeping me awake. There are so many things in the world that we can care about, what follows is some of my ponderings.

Choose to Care
It’s funny isn’t it?
The things we choose
to Care about?
I care about literacy,
Reading, and as I mature
Those that don’t have enough.
The lad and I chat
Why the freezers we have?
I know a family bigger
Yet they have less
Then we do!
Why is that Mom?
It’s hard to answer
Why the need
To make sure so supplied.
But this I care about
I never again
Want to be short on food.
I guess there’s my
Answer eh?
Been there, done that!
Sometimes, the things
we care about are
driven by family.
Othertimes, it seems
that the world steps in and
says CARE ABOUT THIS.
Shouts, anger
Disapproval all push
and shove, demanding.
I listen to preachers
on Proverbs they speak
About wisdom.
Gaining it
Important is.
And I ponder
Does the world care?
Seeking after wisdom?
Or does it merely
pursue the easy
and/or the offense ridden?
So I as Ready myself
For bed, I have to ask!
What do I choose to care about?

What Does God have to say?
God tells us not to fret about our clothing as he cares for both the birds of the sky and the plants of the field and they are ever so beautifully adorned. So that shouldn’t be a worry.
God tells us that he holds us in the palm of his hand so we don’t have to fret about shelter or security, it’s not like he’s going to drop us or expose us harshly to the elements.
He tells us that our chief end is to glorify him and enjoy him forever. Takes a load off about what my ultimate purpose in life is to be. I should focus on how can I show God’s glory to those around me, and as I do so, enjoy the God that I serve willingly.
Anyways, I could go searching up scriptures, but my bed is calling me hard. So night all!

I often get overwhelmed by what my heart wishes to care about. One visit to a news site leaves me exhausted by the need of this world. I’m working on handing it or most to God and trying to focus on what I can impact. My heart just wants to care for more than my body and mind can face.
it’s easy to get overwhelmed isn’t it?
I loved the second half of your blog. It was very upbeat, positive and encouraging. God is so good.

oh good! 🙂 I”m glad you liked at least part of it! God is good indeed!
Annette, it is true – we can get so distracted by the cares all around us. May we remember our God cares for them all.
God is mindful of so much isn’t he?
Amen! to the second part of your post, and I really liked your poem. I think it’s one of my favorites you’ve written.
oh, thank you Sandra. 🙂
I care about so many things,
dogs and guns and Monet’s art
and flight on silent sailplane wings;
I don’t know where to start
in expressing my true gratitude
to Almighty God,
all words come out as platitude,
all songs of praise are flawed,
and I am left with shoulders shrugged,
palms up, “What can I say?
I hope that You, Lord, are not bugged
that I can’t find a way
to give my thanks for what’s been given
‘cept through the joy in which I’m livin.'”
living in joy… ah.. tis a good way to glorify God. 🙂
We all choose to care about different things, don’t we? Or choose to prioritize those things differently, I suppose. What a comfort that our God knows all the things we need and promises to look after us. 🙂
I’m at FMF#16 this week
very true, priorities differ for everyone
Truth written simply is beautiful. The world does shout at us about what others want us to care about but God’s choice of what to care about is just so much nicer! I’ll follow that lead.
me too I think. 🙂
