I used to sing this song as a child. I haven’t heard Happiness is the Lord in a very long time so when I saw it in my songbook I thought… let’s share it! 🙂

Lyrics to Happiness is the Lord
Happiness is to know the Saviour,
Living a life within His favour,
Having a change in my behaviour,
Happiness is the Lord.
Happiness is a new creation,
Jesus and me in close relation,
Having a part in His salvation,
Happiness is the Lord.
Real joy is mine,
No matter if the teardrops start,
I’ve found a secret,
It’s Jesus in my heart.
Happiness is to be forgiven,
Living a life that’s worth the livin’,
Taking a try that leads to Heaven,
Happiness is the Lord.
Real joy is mine,
No matter if the teardrops start,
I’ve found a secret,
It’s Jesus in my heart,
Jesus in my heart.
Happiness is to be forgiven,
Living a life that’s worth the livin’,
Taking a trip that leads to Heaven,
Happiness is the Lord,
Happiness is the Lord,
Happiness is the Lord.

I don’t know this one at all. I like the words of it.
I love it when I can introduce new songs to people… even if the song itself has been around a while. 🙂
Just curious, what hymn book was this in? I can’t find it in any of mine. I saw where it was written in 1968 so it’s not that old.
Oh… it was an old one.. folk hymns or something like that. I have since rehomed it with a friend.
My 3 kids came home from “Vacation Bible School” and sang it and others constantly for 2 1/2 months until we received a visit from our old friend and his pastor.
Within 45 minutes my husband and I prayed to recieve Jesus as our personal savior❣️

thank you
Hello!
My mother’s birthday is tomorrow, and I thought of her today because she taught me lots of songs to sing when I was a child, and this one was a staunch favourite! Thank you for sharing the YouTube link and lyrics – I will sing it with my mom on Saturday!
Cheers,
Marian
I hope you enjoyed singing this fun song. 🙂
