Reading Goals for the New Year? What type of easy blog challenge is this? AH… SUPER EASY!!!! Let’s have fun eh? Where applicable I’ll link to reviews of books, or affiliate links through Amazon.
I’ll cover books I plan to read with the lad, show you the piles of books I have to go through, and show you my current reads. Books are fun no?

Reading with My Lad
One of my joys is daily reading with my lad. We’ve been continuing our exploration into the World Wars. We had planned to read the Diary of Anne Frank next, but somehow we had a kids version and that was annoying, so we’ve moved onto Memories of Anne Frank and we are going to do Life behind the Wall when we are finished it.

We have this whole section of books to choose from. Will we get through them all? Most definitely not! But it’s good to have books to choose from and decide if we’ll read through on our own or together or decide we’d rather not. 🙂 Options!

Books to Answer Questions
My 15-year-old is struggling with issues of faith, questioning even the existence of God. It’s hard sometimes to make sense of God. So last year I picked up a number of books to help me in answering his questions.
Why Trust the Bible I am enjoying going through. I’ll have to re-read it to help solidify ideas. I like how he sees Christ as central to the bible and works in trusting the bible from that angle. Unearthing the bible we picked up to go with Drive Through History.

I’ll be starting Core 52 with him most likely next week, give him, hopefully, more opportunities to ask questions. That’s all I’m aiming for, opportunities to ask questions as together we learn.

My Book Options
At my bedside I find these books. I have to admit, some have been sitting here for more than a year! But eventually I’ll get through them!

I won 2/3’s of these books that sit beside my comfy chair, not sure if I’ll ever read them, a couple of them intrigue though: Five little Indians and The back of the turtle.

Audible Reads
I often find myself listening to books as I work around the house. Right now in fact (since this is an easy post to write) I am listening to a book on Audible called Mad Ship. Membership is easy and gives you a book per month to read/listen to, for generally less than half the price of a new book.

Review Books
My love of reading also spills out in telling others about the books that I read, or books that can be discovered. Below… books waiting my review!

Reading Goals for the New Year
As you can see, I’ve lots of books I can choose from this year to read from. Books of faith, fiction, non-fiction and books to review. All sorts of interesting, alarming, learn-fromable, and sometimes fun reads.
Do you have books you choose to read or do you just read from what you have available? Buy, borrow, be gifted with, new or used, books are meant to be enjoyed! Have fun in your discoveries this year! If you have a mind to, tell me what your reading goals are for the new year.

Oh my Annette you’ve got some pretty extensive choices and I love the variety of the books you’ve chosen for the year ahead. I’m looking forward to hearing more about your books as you read them.
oh.. I do love reading! 🙂 I will try to update as go along….. and to think…. I didn’t even show my BOX!!!
I just love reading. Before all this COVID mess, I would frequently go to Goodwill and spend a large chunk of time in their book section. I have plenty of great choices I haven’t read yet too. I think I have that book Captivating as well. This year I am going to try and read through some of my pile of purchased books as well. I really wish I could make use of audiobooks, I have tried but for some reason, my attention is very limited.
I am interested in hearing more about the Anne Frank book, this was the time period my Gram lived in Germany. I found reading about The White Rose very fascinating.
the white rose society.. we have a book about it.. fascinating. I’m hoping to read it with the lad yet this year.
Annette, I loved seeing your stacks! I think our reading styles are similar!
I noticed Grisham’s The Testament in one of your stacks. That is my all-time fave of his. Just a cool book.
Btw, I just finished Canadian author Louise Penny’s series on Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. She is an incredible writer, I love Gamache, and I learned so much about Canada throughout the series (16 or 17 books?)! If you haven’t read those and wish to, do read them in order. So much unfolds with the characters that reading them out of order would definitely cause the reader to miss some joy.
I will have to check out that series, it sounds interesting. I wonder if the local library has them… or audible…. 🙂
I wouldn’t be surprised. I found Penny this summer and read all her books via our library in ebook form.
I love seeing all the possibilities! So many and such good ones. I am looking forward to continuing to read what you have to say about books.
oh good, I’m glad you like what I have to say! 🙂
