The Author and The Book
Brendan Wenzel also wrote a book Inside Cat which you may remember me reviewing. Both author and illustrator his images walk us through the pages of his stories. He loves all things furry which is clearly seen in the stories he shares with his readers. When not busy writing books, he is a proud collaborator with different groups working to protect and conserve wild places and creatures.
Two Together brings us into the life of Cat and Dog in the course of a day. Cat and Dog are headed home. A simple route lies ahead of them . . . or does it? There’s so much to see and smell and hear, and the two of them experience the world very differently. A stream, for instance, is watery fun for Dog, but it may not be so delightful for Cat! Walk with them through their experiences.Â
Looking Deeper
I like this book! The text, the images, the story, it all fits together smoothly.
It’s so obvious to tell that Cat and Dog are good friends. You see them walking and playing together, enjoying each other’s company even when the lights turn low. They had this whole day of exploration together and then things got a bit spooky, and yet together they stayed. This is friendship and why I so enjoyed the story.
You will find that the story is easy to read. The text and font are lovely to read either with a child in your lap or with a group gathered around for story hour. Good variety in colour and action from page to page.

Should you get Two Together?
Take the time to read Two Together. You will find it to be a fun read for you and your children watching these two friends explore. Seeing them face potential danger together adds a depth to the story as they did not abandon each other.
