Start The Year

This week the FMF word is start. September is the start (for many) of the new school year.  We used to mostly school year round but as my lad matures he works more in the summer so we’ve cut hours back.

Start the year

The week before.
Bad news was had.
The school it called.
The lad had been bumped.
No tech this year
No room for a one class lad.
Meanwhile, there was fun to be had!

playing games rainy day camping

Dad booked a week.
Of Camping that is.
A favourite place in Grundy lake.
Choices to make
Trailer or tent?
Wife full week or time to herself?
Menu or not?
What time to leave?

Tents Set up Camping

Truck packed up
Food and all.
Kayaks, fishing rods, lighters too.
Hugs and Kisses,
Prayers send them on their way.
I have til Thursday!
Piece and quiet
All my own….

Camping to be packed

Cleaning house
Answering texts
Sharing joy, and frustrations too.
Where’s the ______,
Did you pack that _________?
The Truck’s not working right…
I decided to forego one more day
To bring my man the tools and lights he needed.
Easing frustration.

Fishing at Grundy Lake Provincial Park

Days with my boys,
We start to fish,
Campfires, kayaking.
I get to read, how delish!
Rainy day, games call loud
The lad teaches a new one
Start off his mom and dad.
Packing up, Start for home.
Vacation done
School now starts…

Oh, and the lad ended up getting into his Tech course, so this year was indeed started off right. ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad you had a relaxing end and start to your year, Annette. We’re catching a holiday just as everyone else goes back to work! It’s so great having that mix of activity and rest, time alone and with loved ones.
    God bless.
