Well, here it is, Friday night and I haven’t gotten my Five minute Friday post done yet. You’d almost think I’d been busy today. I have been, but that last two hours I’ve just been chillin’. I’ve been watching the Hank Williams movie and thoroughly enjoying the music. The Five minute Friday word prompt this week, as provided by Miss Kate is Help. Ruminating on this world, we got the poem Time Well spent.

Time Well Spent
Busy Day, a time to rest
Many night I feel so blest.
Once in a while, though
I have to admit, it’s not so.
All I see is worry and strife
The stress could cut like a knife.
On those days, what to do?
Watch TV to chase those blues?
Or rather do the table clear
Play a game with one held dear?
Sometimes I need some help,
So to my son I do yelp.
Lend a hand if you please,
could you provide some ease?
Before I know it, decisions made.
Watch TV or see a game laid.
Help you see is close at hand,
Even if it isn’t planned.
How one handles hard enough days,
Shows what rules each ones ways.
Give into stress, or choose to fight,
means I show what is right.
Help a lad make a better choice,
Fill ones heart with a different voice.
What is a heart, always comes out,
Will it be a whisper or a shout?
Whisper love with quiet voice,
Leave the harshness, just rejoice?
Time together is well spent,
Leaves no need to have to vent!
Hallo, Anetintime, I am your neighbour on fiveminutefriday this week. Thank you for the wise and timely advice in you cheery poem. I needed that reminder.
so glad I could help. 🙂
Uplifting poem, and I love that song. Thanks for sharing.
(Visiting from #23)
thank you Sandra
Lovely reminder, Annette, and so beautiully crafted!
Although my days are running out,
I still won’t miss a chance
(though I cannot sing and shout)
to kick up heels and dance.
Dance to crickets in the night,
and to a passing train;
dance to morning’s first soft light,
and dance right through the pain.
Dance below the moon and stars,
dance with my dear bride;
dance unhindered by my scars,
and for what will betide
when on Earth I dance no more,
as I pass through the Golden Door.
thanks for the poem Andrew
A lovely poem and a great reminder on many things I need to focus more on–thanks Annette!
oh thank you, it’s hard to remember sometimes isn’t it?
So much truth in this. Love it. We have also been doing a lot of games in the evenings, particularly with Miss J. A quick hand or two of a card game just helps her so much. Me, too, if I admit it. 🙂
I love playing games with my guys.
No regrets for time well spent…especially when we can do so with ones we love! I was given that reminder myself this past weekend! And I’m grateful for the wise choice:) Have a wonderful week –
You too! Spending time with those we love is the best thing isn’t it?
