I wrote this poem in response to a connections idea with the Breathe Conference I attended Oct 6-7 this year. I thought it fit well with today’s word prompt CONNECT.
world I realize
there are reminders facing me
from every direction.
should do
should be.
connections make me feel so alone,
listen,
matter what I think,
the voices shout.
occasionally they don’t shout and boss me so.
sometimes they reach out and touch me
things that touch my heart.
about the Lord I serve.
remind me the importance of family.
friends.
hurt,
heal.
heart.
out to others.
the world around me
light.
honesty.
see what I see.
Lord’s word.
touched by it.
too can understand it
huge study bible
commentaries.
the Lord and be changed by it.
see what I see.
reading books.
of the authors truths
lives personally.
see what I see.
understanding by knowing the minds of others.
know how people think
maybe open a door
speaking into their hearts.
see what I see.
sunset.
boy child.
husband.
caring well for animals.
see what I see.
connection to something more
than themselves.
the world of others.
the words of kindness spoken.
instruction found
and words sung.
connections, I so want others to see.
faces of those around
tell me.
sometimes they do.
heart…my heart soars.
off to speak new words
me.
connected we all are?
shout.
calm.
world I realize

Nice, very nice. Longer than your normal but filled with such emotion. And you are right – we are not alone in this world.
Thank you Lori, I look back and think…i could tighten it up a bit, reword it hear and there, but overall, I think I conveyed the thoughts I wanted to.
