It’s funny, I saw Miss Kate’s word prompt just before I went to bed last night. I was tempted to stay up and see if I could write a post but I was falling asleep so it seemed a bit pointless. ANYWAYS, as soon as I saw the word, this song for the Jungle Book movie came to mind.
It was still in my mind when I awoke this morning, and all through morning chores, so I wonder if I can find a way to make the two fit together?
The Necessity of Possibilities
Jungle Bear tells us these words
yes it’s true,
These are from him,
not me to you.
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That’s why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life.
Brother Bear would also
say not to go around
looking for more than
you should.
And I’m not sure I agree
with him on that.
It’s our hopes and
dreams and the wonder.
Of possiblities that
add fuel to our life
and journey, whether
a beliver or no.
These possibilities
make us stretch and look
for something more.
As believers we find
that moreness in God
and he stretches our
possibilities to see
his glory in all things.
This week I read
these words in Mark 15
“Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed his last. Then the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. When the centurion, who was standing opposite him, saw the way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!“
And as odd it is sounds
it showed me possibilities
even in death.
Jesus Died. A man saw truth.
It makes me wonder
What possibilities,
what necessities in life
am I overlooking?
What action can I take?
Are there events I am
not seeing
that might bring change?
Is there something
that can bring
the moreness of God
into the life of another?

The Moreness of God
Matthew 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Matthew 17:20
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Genesis 22:24
So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”

Jesus’ words are such an encouragement! He wants us to see the possibilities. Lovely transition from the bare necessities to your thoughtful poem.
Thank you Carol. 🙂
There was a time when I thought
I really had it all,
all that could be earned or bought,
then (wait for it!)…the fall,
and to me the world did say
with laughter and a sneer,
“It’s time for you to go away,
and nevermore come near.”
So I left in wrath and tears,
thinking myself ruined,
but in spite of all my fears
I found I had been pruned,
to know it was all for the best,
having little, needing less.
true that
I don’t know if you’ll ever see this reply but I’d just like to say a heartfelt, ‘Thank you!’ And ‘Praise God for His loving kindnesses!’
God bless and keep you.
thank you
You know, the word possibilities can have such different connotations. If you go searching for possibilities, you create an artificial thing but if you just keep your eyes open for the possibilities (opportunities) God places before you, there is much to be gained. Contentment plays into these possibilities quite a lot, also. Good poem with a lot for contemplation.
Thank you. possibilities exist everywhere.
