Balance in the Rabbitry

December 7, 2018 By Annette1 4 Comments

Could it be
Is is true?
Finally
After a year of trying
Could there be????

OH, there is!
Excitement rises!
I see two brokens!
Chocolate they are!!!

I gasp
I feel emotions arise
I have baby chocolates again!
Yes, my heart cries.

Thank my Lord
I’ve done a breeding right!
Oh now, what should I do?

Shall I do as I always?
Leave the babes with mom tonight?
Or…

Shall I fuss a bother and
Worry over them so…

My joy fights with worry
What should I do?
Then clear-headedness arrives
Let the babies find their way.
Let health prove out.

BUT be mindful

Balance it out.
In one week shelve these babes
Guard against night feedings
With babies popping out.

But until then…
Watch them grow
Be delighted and
Hold those smiles close
To Your Heart.

Balance in the Rabbitry

Now it’s your turn, come join us won’t you?  Every Friday Kate gives us a new word.   This week it is Balance.

Value (a poem)

November 23, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

I tried to have fun with this poem.  It often surprises me where a single word will take me.  What does value mean to you?

—————

One dollar, two dollar, three dollar more
Better hurry up
Gotta run to the store!

Bread, bananas, muffins and cake
Gotta buy it fast
Gonna head for the lake!

Count it out,
Add it up
Make it last
Don’t use it up fast.

One dollar, two dollar, three dollar more
Figuring out the value
When I’m out at the store.

Do I need bananas?
I might not need the cake.
I definitely need the bread
I’ve a student for goodness sake!

Oregano check
What? I don’t need Basil!
Popcorn, Milk,
Corn on the table.

Eggs! Eggs!
I mustn’t forget them too!
Cake, muffins, cookies to make
Try boiled, or scrambled fried do?

Here lad it’s your turn
Give it a whirl
Manage our budget
Let the money unfurl.

The value of money
is not easily learned.
It’s better to learn young
Than as an adult be burned.

Value (a poem)

One Opportunity

November 16, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

One by One

One by one
Marching in
One by One
We stand again

Holding close the memories nigh
Uncle, grampa,

… Meh.. it’s not working for me. My mind was running ahead of myself until it got all jumbled, so perhaps that poem will come another day. 🙂 Let’s see how my other thinking on One goes shall we? 🙂 I’ve been thinking about our family and life pathways a fair bit lately so this might be a better fit eh?

One Opportunity

One marriage
Our household was started with our marriage.
Back in 2002, neither was young.
Seasoned a bit by life
We came in with less expectations to change each other
and more to just enjoy what we had.

One pregnancy
Came and disappeared.
Heart broken, needing to mend.
We learned to share the hard, as well as the easy.

One Boy came
The fears arose.
Would he make it, would he have issues?
Would he be bullied or hurt?
Would he be a joy or a trial?

One boy became a delight
Smart and persistent
Argumentative and Stubborn
but a kind heart and
a Tender soul.
A juxtaposition in many ways.
A challenge for sure
but the holder of good memories.

One job loss
Ah this was hard
Around 24/7 no push to do more
Loss and grieving
but then it was forced.
Find a job, work hard, limbs are sore.
Stresses abound.

One God
Reminds and challenges
Tests and proves
Loves unconditionally.
We learn more.
To talk and share.
To depend and support.
To see need from all.
To build new skills.

One Challenge
Sometimes challenge is a good?
Sometimes challenge shows weakness.
But always, challenge provides
Opportunity.

One opportunity

Burden

November 9, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

As soon as I saw the word burden I thought of this song.

I suppose this song pops immediately into my head due to the war study we are doing in our homeschooling journey, and the fact that Remembrance Day is just around the corner.

War is a burden that no country or people should have to bear. The sorrow, loss and hardship makes it a difficult thing for a nation and people to work through.  No winners or losers, truly in the end. Time has taught us that.

burden

Flash, boom
thunder rolls

Flying missiles
Targets find

Weeping, Wailing
Mourning arise.

For after mourning,
the dawn will come.

Win or lose
And end is in sight.

So for the time
remember,

Weep, mourn
but also … HOPE

Rinse, Repeat

November 2, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

Another day
Another load
Pinks today
Fold yesterday’s blacks

Mom, have you seen?
I need my black pants!
They are folded here lad
Take them up with you next?

Mother my shirt?
The white one, I dance?
Capoiera dance fight
I practice?

Hun! That dress shirt, I need
Has it been done yet this week?
Tomorrow my love,
The lights will come next.

Load after Load
Sometimes drudgery it seems
Until I hear the need
that it fills

Clothes have a job.
I’m learning you see
You can’t do the job
If the clothes you don’t have.

Some lessons come slow
My heart no longer frowns
Thanks and the need
Heart smiles they give.

God reminds
In a still quiet voice
A help-meet I am
I can make it my choice. 🙂

Rinse, repeat. a poem about laundry

Moment of truth

October 25, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

Mother, I help?
The words came
Surrounded by boxes
Technology, cords, paper and more

I shook my head
I didn’t know where to start
Or even the words to help
A non-native speaker.

Over the week
I watch this boy
BOREDOM He needs work to do
So I think

Today hard work I do
I set it up
The boy, he’ll want to help!
Problem solved

The boy came
Mother I am home!
I bid him come
Some work to do.

And then the moment
of truth it came
the boy looked
and shook his head!

Just shoveling and moving
and lots of heavy work
No potential
“non-working” laptops to find.

I shook my head
and got to work
this lad he knows
Some work to shirk.

moment of truth

Miss Kate put up the word Moment and it brought to mind a look upon my exchange student’s face when I made a suggestion to him. Made me laugh once he went back inside. 🙂 Anyways, won’t you come join us? We’re a fun crew gathering weekly to share our thoughts, in five minutes, around a one-word prompt. What are YOUR thoughts this week?

Who

October 19, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

Who

Dr. Who my son would say
What other Who would come to play?
But Dr. Who is now a gal!
The question is, will this be a fail?

Who is a word
Stumbling said
A Brazilian lad
A quest in his head.

Who, not me!
The phrase denied
My role in this
Event aside.

Who I questioned,
My bush did kill?
The foreman shrugged
Replace it, I will.

Can I help,
The who it asked
My heart it leapt
Love at last!

Who’s live in life
A name, a place,
A heart, a word
Rarely a disgrace

The greatest WHO that
Ever lived
Reminds me love
As he once did.

A new commandment I give to you. Love one another as I first loved you.

Yah I know.. not the greatest poem I’ve ever written, but I did…. find it fun to do!  🙂

Come on join us won’t you?  Miss Kate has put up a new word for us to freewrite with this week.  Write for five minutes, edit it not, (well okay, edit what you really can’t live with).   Then come, be an encouragement to kith and kin!
