Hymn

You are my All in All

June 17, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

The other day I was coming home with the lad, I was bone tired and needing to stay away so I started singing every single campfire song I could think of.  To my surprise my buggy (the lad) joined in after I repeated them a few times.

I started to teach him this one.

I grew up singing it as a round so was surprised at how long it took me to find one on youtube that did the same way I learned.

Anyways, hope you enjoy it. 🙂

you are my all in all

Lyrics written by Dennis Jernigan

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all

Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name
Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name

Taking my sin my cross my shame
Rising again I bless your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down you pick me up
When I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name
Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name

Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name
Jesus Lamb of God worthy is your name

Ancient of Days

June 10, 2018 By Annette1 2 Comments

Oh, we sang this song the other day in church.  Made my heart smile as I just like this song.  Hope you do too.  🙂

ancient of days

Written by Ron Kenoly.  He is a songwriter from the United States. His expressed mission is “to create an environment for the manifest presence of God”.  He has worked as a Music Pastor in California and later moved to the East Coast where he continued his musical work.  He knew as a child he wanted to sing.

Lyrics

Blessing and honor, glory and power
Be unto the Ancient of Days
From every nation, all of creation
Bow before the Ancient of Days

Every tongue in heaven and earth shall declare Your glory
Every knee shall bow at Your throne in worship
You will be exalted, oh God
And Your kingdom shall not pass away
Oh, Ancient of Days

Oh, blessing and honor, glory and power
Be unto the Ancient of Days
From every nation – spoken
From every nation, all of creation
Bow before the Ancient of Days

Every tongue – spoken
Every tongue in heaven and earth shall declare Your glory
Every knee shall bow at Your throne (my Lord) in worship
You will be exalted, oh God
And Your kingdom shall not pass away
Oh, Ancient of Days
Oh, Ancient of Days

Trading My Sorrows

June 3, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

Today the family and I went to a church we are trying out.  One of the songs used this morning was “Trading my Sorrows” by Matt Redman.  It’s been a while since I’ve sung this song that I thought I’d take a moment and share it with you all.

Trading my sorrows

Matt Redman is a Christian songwriter who lives in England. He has written many praise and worship songs. He has worked on various conferences and with Hillsong. He has won various awards, and generally worked to helped people praise the Lord effectively.

Lyrics

I’m trading my sorrows
I’m trading my shame
I’m laying them down for the joy of the lord

I’m trading my sickness
I’m trading my pain
I’m laying it down for the joy of the lord

We say yes lord yes lord yes yes lord
Yes lord yes lord yes yes lord
Yes lord yes lord yes yes lord amen

I’m pressed but not crushed persecuted but not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I am blessed beyond the curse for his promise will endure
That his joy’s gonna be my strength
Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning

This version made me smile.  Recalled me back to a time at VBS when my lad sang this song with the other children, doing these same actions.

On Our Way Rejoicing

May 27, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

Written by John S Monsell. Son of Thomas Bewley Monsell, archdeacon of Londonderry, Ireland, Monsell attended Trinity College in Dublin, and was ordained in 1834.  In 1853, he was assigned to a post in England, serving as Vicar of Egham, Surrey, until 1870, and Rector at St. Nicholas’, Guildford, until 1875.  He was killed as the result of an infected wound from a fall from the roof of the church while it was being rebuilt. He had helped in the rebuilding of three churches he was part of. He created 11 volumes of poetry encompassing almost 300 hymns.

On Our Way Rejoicing, a hymn to learn

Lyrics

On our way rejoicing, as we homeward move,
Hearken to our praises, O Thou God of love!
Is there grief or sadness? Thou our joy shalt be;
Is our sky beclouded? There is light with Thee.

Refrain
On our way rejoicing, as we homeward move,
Hearken to our praises, O Thou God of love!

If with honest hearted love for God and man,
Day by day Thou find us doing all we can,
Thou who givest the seed time, will give large increase,
Crown the head with blessings, fill the heart with peace.

Refrain

On our way rejoicing gladly let us go;
Conquered hath our Leader, vanquished is our foe;
Christ without, our safety, Christ within, our joy;
Who, if we be faithful, can our hope destroy?

Refrain

Unto God the Father joyful songs we sing;
Unto God the Savior thankful hearts we bring;
Unto God the Spirit bow we and adore;
On our way rejoicing now and evermore.

I look at the words to this hymn and as I read them over I find myself asking… am I rejoicing?  Am I finding ways to praise God as we go through a time of transition and the stress that goes with it?   Am I remembering that God is my joy?   That he won’t let my hope be destroyed, and that he continues to love and mind me full well.

We Are God’s People

May 20, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

This hymn is another from a service where hubby was guest preaching at. It was the first time I’d heard this song and I found it to be easily singable. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

we are god's people

Lyrics

We are God’s people, the chosen of the Lord,
Born of His Spirit, established by His Word;
Our cornerstone is Christ alone,
And strong in Him we stand:
O let us live transparently
And walk heart to heart and hand in hand.

We are God’s loved ones, the Bride of Christ our Lord,
For we have known it, the love of God outpoured;
Now let us learn how to return
The gift of love once given:
O let us share each joy and care,
And live with a zeal that pleases Heaven.

We are the Body of which the Lord is Head,
Called to obey Him, now risen from the dead;
He wills us be a family,
Diverse yet truly one:
O let us give our gifts to God,
And so shall his work on earth be done.

We are a temple, the Spirit’s dwelling place,
Formed in great weakness, a cup to hold God’s grace;
We die alone, for on its own
Each ember loses fire:
Yet joined in one the flame burns on
To give warmth and light, and to inspire.

Written by Bryan Jeffery Leech. He lived 1931-2015, Born in Yorkshire, he served in the Navy. He eventually became ordained as a pastor serving in various pastorates in the United States.

Saviour, Again to Thy Dear Name We Raise

May 13, 2018 By Annette1 2 Comments

Don’t you love a good hymn that speaks to the praise and worship we have for our risen Lord?  Praising him for his actions on our behalf, and that also speaks to our dependence upon him?   Saviour, Again to Thy Dear Name We Raise is one such song.

Saviour Again to thy dear name we raise

Lyrics

Savior, again to Thy dear name we raise
With one accord our parting hymn of praise;
We stand to bless Thee ere our worship cease;
Then, lowly kneeling, wait Thy word of peace.

Grant us Thy peace upon our homeward way;
With Thee began, with Thee shall end the day.
Guard thou the lips from sin, the hearts from shame,
That in this house have called upon Thy name.

Grant us Thy peace, through this approaching night;
Turn Thou for us its darkness into light;
From harm and danger keep Thy children free,
For dark and light are both alike to Thee.

Grant us Thy peace—the peace Thou didst bestow
On Thine apostles in Thine hour of woe;
The peace Thou broughtest, when at eventide
They saw Thy piercèd hands, Thy wounded side.

Grant us Thy peace throughout our earthly life;
Peace to Thy church from error and from strife;
Peace to our land, the fruit of truth and love;
Peace in each heart, Thy Spirit from above.

Thy peace in life, the balm of every pain;
Thy peace in death, the hope to rise again;
Then, when Thy voice shall bid our conflict cease,
Call us, O Lord, to Thine eternal peace.

Written by John Ellerton, Saviour, Again to Thy Dear Name We Raise, was written for the Festival of the Malpas, Middlewich and Nantwich Choral Association in Cheshire, England. Mr. Ellerton wrote about 50 of his own hymns and translated a few others. Born in London, England he eventually took the Holy Orders and became Curate of Eastbourne, and then Vicar of Crewe Green 1860, Rector of Hinstock 1872, of Barnes 1876, and of White Roding 1886. He lived from 1826-1893. He wrote prose as well as poetry and is best known for his work as a poet and hymnwriter. The Hymnary site has more information on Mr. Ellerton and his work.

Worthy of Worship

May 6, 2018 By Annette1 Leave a Comment

worthy of worship

Hubby was guest preaching today and this song Worthy of Worship is one chosen to go along with his sermon from 1 John 1:5-10.   I thought it a rather pretty song filled with words describing who God is.   I don’t know a whole lot about the author or anything.  I just happened to like the lyrics and thought I’d share them with you.

Lyrics

Worthy of worship, worthy of praise,
worthy of honour and glory;
worthy of all the glad songs we can sing,
worthy of all the off’rings we bring.

Refrain:
You are worthy, Father, Creator.
You are worthy, Saviour, Sustainer
You are worthy, worthy and wonderful;
worthy of worship and praise.

2
Worthy of rev’rence, worthy of awe,
worthy of love and devotion;
worthy of bowing and bending of knees,
worthy of all this and added to these . . .

Refrain:

3
Almighty Father, Master and Lord,
King of all kings and Redeemer,
Wonderful Counselor, Comforter, Friend,
Saviour and source of our life without end;

Refrain:

It’s written by Chason Disheroon.  You can learn more about this fellow who hails from Georgia, USA from this site.

Below he sings the song that he wrote.
