Garden, What about the bushy one?

June 17, 2017 By Annette1 2 Comments

Garden, The Bushy One
Come see my Love
Come see won’t you?
See…how much progress has been made?
This patch, you used to not see the spinach,
Remember that my love?
Ah, yes, I can see it.
The weeds were knee high.
Good job hun,
but
Can you tell me.
What is the bushy thing in with the lettuce?
Oh shush hun
The weed grew while I was…
See hun…See that garden there?
See how you can see the tomatoes again?
Ah yes, I see hun.
So when is the bushy thing getting out of the lettuce?
Argh,
I sigh.
I shake my head.
I don’t get annoyed.
Because he is who he is.
A perfectionist who
Can only see the bushy thing in the lettuce.
My boy is the same.

Good thing I’ve learned from his dad eh?
Helps me show more grace to a lad.
Who…
Only sees “the bushy thing”.
This garden of a lad I grow as well.
Pleased I am when I see sin falling away.
Sorrowful I am when sometimes a lad only sees
“the one thing” and
Doesn’t see his own growth in the Lord.
Prayer and patience.
That’s the way to get any kind
Of Garden to Grow.

Perspective in Worthiness

June 16, 2017 By Annette1 14 Comments

I am struggling lately with perspective.

You see I’m reading a book lately called Parenting by David Tripp, and I recently finished a book called The Imperfect Disciple.   Both make me think.

Imperfect Disciple reminding me to stop and behold the Lord, to REALLY see him, and to keep walking forward in my faith even though I stumble and fall, but that God’s great love for me holds me and comforts me and reminds me of whose I truly am (despite my frailties).

The parenting book is CONSTANTLY reminding of a truth I hold close.  I am a fallen person.  God has given me the job of raising a fallen person, to help him see his need for Christ and to turn out to be a man of Character for God.

These are truths I hold in my heart.  They are right there lately every time I turn around.

And yet.

I have this other perspective of

I’M TIRED.
WHY does this lad have to push my buttons today?
WHY do I want to grump at the world?
WHY do I have to have a stubborn young rabbit, due to have babies any moment now, want to not use her nestbox?
WHY does my hubby have to struggle so to fix the truck when it should have been an easy fix!!!

All these whys work hard to crowd out what I know is my worth in Christ.
Why does that perspective of my worth change?

I feel so worthless.  So beaten.   So full of struggle to remember truths I hold in my heart.
But God has, so some strange reason, chosen to call me worthy in Christ?!

Why can’t I just hold God’s perspective of my worth before my face even in all my struggles?

My worth in God is set.
And yet my worth in my own eyes falters so.

It’s perspective right?   I don’t have the answers, not today, today… today I just feel a tad weary.
My worth feels shattered.

This is a five minute Friday post. the word prompt is brought to us by Miss Kate over at Five Minute Friday.  What is Five Minute Friday?  Well it’s a party of a group of like
minded folks who gather on Friday to do a five minute free write around a
singular word.  AND THEN (and this is the most important part) we take the time to offer up encouragement to
each other on this writing journey.  It’s fun, though it’s not always
easy, but it is always good.   Come join us won’t you?  You are always
welcome.

I’m going on a visit!

May 26, 2017 By Annette1 16 Comments

 Visit.

Did you know that next week I get to visit another country.  I’ve been there before this country.
Three and a half years of Bible College…getting a double major in Bible and Education, with a minor in social work.   I got to know Grand Rapids fairly well and drove through Michigan a lot.

I also drove through a lot of the states when I was a teen heading off with Missions Outreach Int’l going to Haiti to help build a church.

In my married life I’ve been to Port Huron to pick up parcels. Turns into a nice day out with my sweetheart.

But this week coming…I’m going to visit Pennsylvania.  Going to do some history walking and sight seeing with my lovely 11 year old boy.  🙂  Should be a good time.  Dad will be with us part of the week, but mostly he’ll be hanging out at a conference.

AND while I am visiting the USofA, two members of the crew hope to visit with us.   Pretty cool eh?

and THAT’s all I have in me this week for .. VISIT!

Truth, a Poem

May 19, 2017 By Annette1 20 Comments

Truth
Truth rolls off my back
like water off a duck.
Finding places to sit in,
Places to lead others to query
Chasing away the dirt and grime
Making one be like new.
Truth
Easily discernable from a lie
Most of the time
But sometimes truth is hidden in a lie
A lie that needs light shone upon it
and suddenly.. there it is … revealed
Truth
It demonstates a man honest
It shows a child’s integrity
It displays a woman reliable
Truth
It’s part of the Godhead
Seen ultimately in his son Jesus
God declared he knew how to make us right with him
And so it was done.
Truth was spoke
Truth revealed.
A people saved.

Mom

May 12, 2017 By Annette1 8 Comments

Mom
My mom
Loves me
Cares deeply
Born of Dutch Blood
Transferred to Canada
Married
Six kids
Farm
Cats, Dogs, Cattle.
Large Garden.
Lover of Dad
Wife
Caretaker
Mourned his loss
Mourns him still
Loved deeply
Back rubs
Smiles
Deep respect was held.
Parent
Minder of Manners
Minder of what Girls Do
Minder of what Boys Do
Teacher
Guide
Faithful
Lover of God
Sharer of Faith
My Mom
Not Always an Easy Relationship
Gets stuck on things
Some things more important it seems
Than a daughter’s feelings.
BUT always
Cares deeply
And shows always
What love is.
Love is
Patient
Kind
Goes beyond itself
Not boastful
Protecting
Steadfast
Hopeful
This is my mom
Not perfect
But steadfast in her love.
I am Grateful.

The Greatest Should

May 6, 2017 By Annette1 4 Comments

I should get to bed I said.
I should get to bed on time.

But..there’s this post to write.
This laundry to fold.
Some critters to care for.

And so I went to bed (after I had that all done).  🙂  Leaving this particular post to wait until Friday sometime.

GO……

I sit here after a long busy day of being with my lad, of hardly seeing my hubby and finally being able to enjoy his quiet presence as we sit together, of thinking how he did a funeral for a former church member whose family didn’t know the Lord and saw her faith as insignificant, and think of the word should.

Should contains so much you know?

Makes me think of all the things I “SHOULD” do and don’t.  And of all the things I choose to do that leave those other shoulds unanswered.

It makes me think of how that’s how life is you know? If you heed one should, you leave another should unfulfilled.  It is simply impossible to meet all the shoulds you have in life.   You just can’t do it all you know?

But there is one should you need to pay heed to.
The should of knowing the Lord God.  The one who created you.  The one who didn’t need to make things right between himself and us.   He didn’t need to but he also knew what he SHOULD do.   He created a way for us to know him personally.

God loves us.  Making the should of his sacrifice of his lad for us.  It’s what he did.

In response we need listen to that quiet call upon our hearts by the Holy Spirit.   That call that bids us answer the greatest should of all.  The “should” of having a personal relationship with the Lord God, through his son Jesus Christ the Lord.

Springtime, a poem

April 30, 2017 By Annette1 2 Comments

The
Homeschool Review Crew does word prompts for Instagram fun, I think
it’s great to have these words prompts for doing quick posts.  🙂   I
find them fun as sometimes it surprises me where my brain goes.  🙂   Today’s word: Springtime.  Let’s follow my thoughts along the way eh?

 Spring is here
My blue flowers are out
Spring is here
The crocuses peak out.
Bright colours splash
Across a brown landscapes
Reminding us that
Spring has Sprung.
Hope is found
after a season of cold.
Warmth
Life
Colour
Brightness
Work to do
Gardens to plant
A season of plenty
after
A season of want
But first.
The Splash of colour
Springtime
